Bonnie Levinson’s career spans over three decades working in the arts with cultural institutions.
Over the last seven years Bonnie has been developing her studio art practice. She is a multidisciplinary artist, working in mixed media, photography and paint. A playwright/performer and collaborator, her attention is in the intersection of these diverse yet complementary forms, and their influence upon each other.
Her firm BLAM! (Bonnie Levinson Arts Management) consults with individuals bringing art into their lives through active looking, aesthetic education and the joy of collecting. She works with cultural institutions creating public arts programming, and curating exhibitions. Currently she works with the National Parks for New York Harbor Conservancy as the Cultural Consultant and Curator for the Visual Arts for Federal Hall in New York City. This past year she has been developing an artist in residence program with the students at Making Waves Academy resulting in permanent art for the campus of this charter school in Richmond, CA.
She was Deputy Director for External Affairs at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Vice President for Development for the New York Public Library, Associate Director of The Hudson River Museum and Assistant Curator of Education at the Delaware Art Museum. She received her BA cum laude from Kenyon College and her Masters of Arts in Teaching Museum Education at George Washington University and was a recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship. Her art making studies have been enhanced by classes and workshops at the San Francisco Art Institute through the Public Education program, Anderson Ranch Art Center, City College of San Francisco and Colorado Mountain College. She is a founding board member of the Oxbow School, serves as trustee emeritus of the San Francisco Art Institute, the Gund Gallery of Kenyon College, and Artemis Rising Foundation.
