Frank Smigiel is the Director of Arts Programming & Partnerships at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture.  As the newly appointed Chair of Exhibition & Museum Studies, Smigiel will deepen the department's engagement with arts infrastructures and support students to develop practices in exhibition-making, publishing, and performance.  The former Associate Curator of Performance & Film at SFMOMA, his curatorial interests including the intersection of theater and time-based art, commerce by artists, and queer histories.  He has worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Rosenbach Museum & Library, and the University of the Arts.  He holds a doctorate in English Literature.
