James Claussen is a printmaker and painter living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Claussen has been drawing and composing images from his imagination and life. Stone lithography is the printmaking medium he uses to express himself the most. The narrative manner of his work closely links to surrealism. Shapes, forms and textures are inspired from nature and machinery, together make up a balance of their spacial relationships that work to define positive and negative space and symmetry.
Claussen has been teaching printmaking for over 40 years. His shows include solo museum exhibits, national-international exhibits and collections, local and national gallery exhibits.
