John de Fazio has produced an idiosyncratic body of work that blends themes of Pop culture with classic mythologies, recontextualized into meticulous crafted objects of desire. He spent nearly 20 years in New York creating and exhibiting paintings and ceramic sculptures while supporting his studio by working on sets and props for music videos at MTV, animation for Pee-Wee's Playhouse, and illustrations for The New Yorker Magazine. Current areas of interest range from the cultural deconstruction of kitsch and camp to the redefinition of contemporary funerary and crematory urns.
