Since leaving graduate school in 1974 my main studio investigations have manifested through drawing, painting and printmaking, all three being driven by the inherent conceptual aspects of Printmaking. In the studio I am searching for visual evidence not dictated by culture. I am anticipating a condition of ignorance founded only in identifying the experience I am having at the time. I have a genuine belief that words, tales, stories, and spells have an extraordinary force in the world – that in life if you feel you’ve been beaten you can win back some measure of what you have lost through language – in my case, a visual language. Man’s ejection from nature and the resulting loss of innocence appear to be the major themes of my work. Most recently I am exploring how this separation can be represented through the placement of the hand and the digital in the same space.
