Architectural rubbings, Mimbres pottery, and John Cage meet in the exhibition Mariana Castillo Deball: Feathered Changes, Serpent Disappearances. Here’s an inside look into Deball’s creative process—an experiment trying to define the past through chance operations. Deball is the inaugural SFAI + Kadist Artist-in-Residence and created the work on site at SFAI.

Feathered Changes, Serpent Disappearances is co-presented by San Francisco Art Institute and Kadist Art Foundation. The exhibition is organized by SFAI Assistant Curator Katie Hood Morgan with SFAI + Kadist Fellow Christopher Squier.
