An inside look into David Ireland at SFAI’s Walter and McBean Galleries. Watch as over six thousand pounds of concrete are poured in the space—recreating Ireland’s Smithsonian Falls, Descending a Staircase for P. K., first installed for his Adaline Kent Award exhibition at SFAI in 1987—and as piles of concrete figures are heaped beneath a motorized fiberglass angel in Angel-Go-Round (1996).
David Ireland is on view from January 14-March 26, and is organized in conjunction with the public reopening of the David Ireland House. The exhibition features seminal and rarely seen works by the late artist.
