Official Transcripts
San Francisco Art Institute works with the National Student Clearinghouse for official transcript orders. Transcripts may be ordered online. To obtain an official transcript of your grades, submit an online Transcript Request form.
Content of Transcripts
Official SFAI transcripts list your coursework completed as an SFAI student; your full legal name; your degree/certificate program, and if applicable, your date of birth; an your SFAI ID number. Official transcripts also include a brief explanation of grades and are signed, dated, and sealed by the Registrar.
Transfer Course Notation on Transcripts
Though official transcripts note how many transfer credits from another institution were accepted toward your degree/certificate, it does not list the actual courses and grades from the other institutions that were transferred. Your grade point average (GPA) from transferred courses is not counted in your SFAI GPA. SFAI does not assume authority to issue official transcripts from other institutions, even those from which transferred credits were accepted. To obtain official transcripts of coursework done at other institutions, please contact the registrar’s office at those institutions. To view how your transferred courses satisfy required areas of your SFAI degree program, run your "Program Evaluation" (not a transcript) in WebAdvisor.
Processing Time/Fees
Regular Processing: $5 per transcript; processed within 5 business days.
Please note: In addition to the transcript fee, there is a $2.50 Clearinghouse fee per order for paper transcripts and Electronic Exchange transcripts, or a $3.50 Clearinghouse fee for electronic pdf transcripts.
Transcripts held for grades or degree postings will not be processed until after grades and/or degrees are posted (generally 2-3 weeks after the end of a semester). For students who attended SFAI prior to the year 2000, additional processing time may be required.
