Collector Paul Sack will be sharing the expansive history and lifelong goals that went into his collection of photographs in conversation with SFMOMA Curator of Photography Corey Keller. Comprising of 2800 photographs, his collection spans the entire history of the medium and will be bequeathed to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
About Paul Sack
Paul Sack has served on SFAI’s Board of Trustees at three points in time. In the early 1960s, when he was also a student of painting and drawing at SFAI, he was a trustee and head of the Building Committee, which selected the architect Paffard Keatinge-Clay for the addition to the building. He was subsequently a trustee in the 1980s, and again in the new century.
Mr. Sack’s principal business activity has been investing in real estate for large, tax-exempt investors. For four years in the 1960s, he served as Peace Corps staff in Tanzania and in Washington, D.C. For the past twenty years, collecting photography has been his principal occupation. In 1998, he and his wife established the Prentice and Paul Sack Photographic Trust at SFMOMA, donating an important collection that now comprises nearly 1,200 works spanning the history of the medium. Mr. Sack holds an AB degree in economics from Harvard College, an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
