Annie Lapin’s paintings perform a Grey Gardens-esque dance through high and low forms. Her buoyant works enmesh gilded-era patterns and structures with contemporary graffiti, dissolving figures, and pure painterly decay. Working from Los Angeles, Lapin calls to mind nothing less transcendent than Kim Kardashian’s two-year-old painting on an Hermès bag. Lapin has presented solo exhibitions at venues including Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro; Pasadena Museum of California Art; and Grand Arts, Kansas City. She is represented by Honor Fraser, Los Angeles.
