Jon Rubin’s interdisciplinary projects include launching a radio station in an abandoned neighborhood that only plays the sound of an extinct bird; founding a barter-based nomadic art school; lending pigeons to museum-goers, who train them to fly “home” to the museum; and co-directing Conflict Kitchen, which solely serves cuisine from countries with which the United States is in conflict. Rubin is an associate professor at Carnegie Mellon University and head of the Contextual Practice area.
