Concurrent with the landmark Ai Weiwei exhibition @Large (presented by the FOR-SITE Foundation on Alcatraz Island), ArtTable and SFAI are pleased to present a public lecture by Lucy Lippard.
Lucy Lippard is a critic, curator, activist, and writer known for groundbreaking scholarship on contemporary art, feminism, and place. In her talk, Lippard will consider the contextual and cultural implications of Ai Weiwei’s exhibition on Alcatraz Island. Her latest work Undermining: A Wild Ride through Land Use, Politics, and Art in the Changing West (The New Press, 2014) bridges many of her primary concerns in a spectacular book mirroring the vastness and complexity of the West itself.
