In the fold

Opening Reception: Tuesday, April 23 | 7:00 PM
On View: April 20 - 24, 2019

This exhibition derives from four artists' encounters with lines.

Lines have multiple definitions and uses in our works and in the world at large; they are very powerful and sometimes contradictory. Lines can be used to point at, to help to see, to erase, to connect and to separate, to define, to imagine, to represent, to invent, to organize, or to cause chaos. Lines are erratic and unpredictable.

In drawing, lines try to represent a three-dimensional object in two dimensions, they approximate something that might not even exist; they try to bring it to life.

The redacted text lines are added to cover information, lines take what is not needed and point at what is essential.

In a grid they try to organize, they create the illusion of organization in a chaotic place.

In painting they create illusions, movements. Executing them is an exercise of concentration and focus.
